Landscape Plus - Drone + Photography

To highlight the beauty of a finished project in bloom, we took the drone to capture these sweet stills of Sky Square, a recently completed project for Landscape Plus. Finishing stills are always a pleasure to capture. Progress stills are a joy to see the development of a project, but there’s always something special about seeing the end product in all its shining glory.

To prepare for this shoot, we undertook our usual process of standard drone reconnaissance; checking airspace, organising permissions with the property/site owner, creating a SWMS and flight paths. What was interesting for this shoot is that due to weather, we had to shoot the ground level stills first, and then come back for the drone a separate day. This allowed our drone pilot to essentially have an in person recce of the space from the ground, which in turn saved her time on the day of the drone shoot, as she could find places to hide herself within the frame, so as to stay out of the lens of the drone.

We love the effect of these stills, the square framing and use of reflections, paired with the clean and detailed landscaping mirrors that of a render, creating an image that looks like an illustration. The creative colours and playful shapes, when captured in these angles remind me of a child's doll house before it has been taken out of the box. The angled lines create a sense of symmetry and ultimately a calming effect, something perfect to showcase a rooftop garden like this one.
